The art of cake filling and icing
Before you start filling, the cake should cool well to prevent the filling from melting. Cut the cake into even layers with a sharp knife or use a handy cake saw. The cake saw is a handy tool that ensures that each layer is perfectly even, which is essential for a beautiful construction and presentation of your cake.
Then spread your filling evenly with, for example, a spatula or spoon. Carefully place the next layer on top and repeat until the cake is completely filled. Then apply the topping and smooth it with a spatula or smoothing spoon, which you have dipped in warm water for a moment and dried off. The warm surface makes the cream nicely even for a sleek finish.
You can cover the outside of the cake with different types of toppings, such as buttercream or crème fantastique. Buttercream is a creamy and versatile choice that you can use for a firm and beautiful finish. Crème fantastique is a very airy and soft topping, ideal for a sophisticated look. You can also use the gluten-free toppings in light blue and light pink, which not only give a festive look, but are also perfect for people with gluten intolerance
